What is Full Service Design?

Project Mid-Term Rental Henderson

Have you ever wondered what Full Service Design includes when you hire an Interior Decorator for your design project? We're here to explain to you what we do at EP Design Studio. Keep reading for a breakdown on the different phases of a Full Service project!

Full Service Design quite simply means that we work with our clients from initial design concepts all the way to full home installation. We provide a "full service" experience by not just offering design suggestions and recommendations, but also sourcing all furnishings, placing furniture orders, managing shipments and coordinating a white glove delivery and install service.

This is a perfect investment for those who value the expertise and vision of an Interior Decorator and prefer to be hands off in all the logistics that can come with furnishing a new space. Imagine having to newly furnish an entire home and having to manage all the purchases and deliveries from multiple retailers arriving at different time frames? Not to mention having to worry about assembling all the furniture when it arrives as well. Working with an Interior Decorator on a Full Service Design project allows this to be taken off your hands, so that all you have to do is approve of the overall vision and items. Depending on the size of the project, the investment can vary. However, it can most definitely pay to receive the time you may have spent researching back so you can focus on other priorities!

At EP Design Studio, an Interior Decorator not only sources and places orders for new furnishings, but also delivers design deliverables that can help you truly visualize the design potential in the space. Let's break down the typical phases of a Full Service Design project below!

Phase 1: Discovery

This phase is a chance for both the Designer and Client to see if the project would be a good fit for both parties! On the Designer's side, this will be an opportunity for us to learn about the project's overall scope of work, take a look at the home, learn about the Client's wants/needs, talk about budgets and explain the breakdowns of our processes. For the Client's side, they will be able to use this as a learning opportunity to see if the Designer's overall design process and fees are conducive for the investment they are willing to put in. This is a fantastic opportunity to ask all the questions, get familiar with the process and set expectations accordingly.

At EP Design Studio, an Interior Decorator will always start off with scheduling a free Discovery Call after receiving the initial project inquiry (click here to submit one!). From there, the Client schedules a paid Design Consultation for the Designer to meet them at their home to assess the space, offer design suggestions, learn what the client wants and set proper expectations about their Full Service process. Lastly, the Interior Decorator will take everything they have learned so far speaking and meeting with the Client to create a custom Design Proposal outlining the project's scope of work, design fees, project phases, timelines and more!

Phase 2: Design & Presentation

As a newly signed Client, this phase begins the fun part! The Design process is different with every Designer, but at EP Design Studio this is where your Interior Decorator will begin sourcing all new furniture/decor and creating all the designs for you to visualize. This includes design boards, furniture layouts and conceptual 3D renderings as part of the process. We want to make sure our Clients to feel 100% confident in the designs we present to them. Once we have finished sourcing everything and creating the design deliverables, we present them to you to approve on. Every project is carefully curated to meet your style and budget!

It's important to note that this phase also includes any necessary revisions! Like many projects, it's completely normal to go through tweaks to get a design you fully love. Don't be discouraged if it takes a couple of tries.. that's part of the process and what you should expect!

Phase 3: Procurement

After all the items have been approved, this is when your Interior Decorator moves to the procurement phase of the project. This means that as part of Full Service Design, your Designer is in charge of placing orders for you, tracking shipping, managing delivery and corresponding with any vendors and third parties. The most convenient aspect about this is that you no longer have to worry about blocking time away from work to be at home for deliveries or where to even store all the packages! At EP Design Studio, we work with a receiving warehouse that will receive all the deliveries, inspect and hold the items for storage until all the items have arrived. Again- letting the professionals do what they do best! We take the stress away from you because most the time, the logisitics are the part that many clients hate to deal with.

Phase 4: Install

So we know we said that the design part is the fun part.. but we have to admit this is probably the MOST fun part as a Client! Finally the day comes to install all your furniture, style decor and take professional photographs! We get to reveal a brand new space for you, which is so exciting! All the months of hard work and patience have finally come to this and we can officially wrap up the project and leave you with a beautifully designed new home. :)

This is why there is so much value in Full Service Design! As Designers, we understand that everyone leads busy lives, but that doesn't mean you have to keep pushing off making your home beautiful and functional. At EP Design Studio, we believe that our daily enviroment can directly influence how we show up every day. If you live in a home that makes you feel stressed all the time because there's so many home projects you keep putting off- then it can take a toll on one's mental health. As Interior Decorators, we want to come into your home and make it a reflection of your aesthetic and lifestyle!

So, are you ready to revamp your space? Let us take care of it for you! We're based in Fresno, CA area, but also serve throughout the greater Central Valley area of California. Not local to the area? No worries, we think you'll LOVE our Virtual Design service; learn more about that here!
